He came into the world on November 27, 1955, in Washington, D.C. He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University and later took a job at Boeing, where he invented a hydraulic pressure resonator used in airplanes. He made his entertainment debut with the sketch comedy show Almost Live!. His other major projects include hosting Bill Nye the Science Guy and Bill Nye Saves the World.
On television, his flagship PBS show became a staple in school classrooms worldwide. His recent documentary appearances focus heavily on climate change awareness. He serves as the CEO of The Planetary Society and has endorsed major science-backed initiatives, green energy companies, and tech brands.
