Bonnie Tyler Passes Away at the Age of 75

At the age of 75, Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, well known for tunes including "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and "Holding Out For A Hero," passed away.

"Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for," according to a statement on Tyler's official website.

Only a few weeks after it was revealed that she had emerged from a coma but was still "very unwell" in critical care, she passed away. Tyler was put in an induced coma to speed up her recuperation after being taken to a Portuguese hospital in May for urgent bowel surgery.

Tyler, who was born Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen, Wales, became well-known for "It's A Heartache" in the late 1970s and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in the 1980s. Later, she achieved yet another significant hit with "Holding Out For A Hero," which was included on the Footloose soundtrack.
