Burt Young was an American actor, best known for his role as Rocky Balboa's longtime friend and brother-in-law Paulie Pennino in the Rocky film series. He was born Gerald Tommaso DeLouise on April 30th, 1940, in New York City, and after service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he studied acting. Young started his acting career in the late 1960s, training under the renowned acting coach Lee Strasberg. He received an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor for the original Rocky (1976). He has also performed in movies like Chinatown, The Gambler, Once Upon a Time in America, Mickey Blue Eyes and Win Win. Burt Young died on October 8, 2023, at age 83.
