Emily VanCamp was born in Port Perry, Canada, on 12 May 1986. Initially planned a career in ballet, so she was trained at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec. But then she took a turn towards acting and appeared on television in the late 90s. She made her breakthrough when she was cast as Amy Abbott on the television series Everwood, gaining fame. Afterwards, she got a few lead roles, including her role as Rebecca Harper in the series Brothers & Sisters and playing a leading role in the ABC series Revenge. VanCamp also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sharon Carter, starting with the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She then went on to portray a variety of roles on television and film, appearing in the medical drama series The Resident. After her long break, she is now returning in the new legal series called Prejudice.
