Fawad Naeem Rana is an entrepreneurial Pakistani businessman and sports owner born on April 9, 1985, in Lahore and known as the founder and the main owner of the Pakistan Super League Lahore Qalandars and used his innovative branding and academies of youth development to make Lahore Qalandars a favorite of the fans. The business acumen coupled with the passion in the fans has seen his popularity skyrocket with the two PSL wins in 2022 and 2023, and extensions globally to Qatar. He shares ownership with the brother Sameen Rana who is a significant partner in sports projects. Fawad was the star of a January 2025 webinar on entrepreneurial philosophy, and his exuberant presence at the PSL opener of the season was a viral hit, putting him in position to be an innovator in the cricket ecosystem.
Fawad Rana Wins Case
Fawad Rana wins the case in a major legal decision announced on January 21, 2026. A Supreme Court–appointed arbitrator, Justice (r) Maqbool Baqer, ruled in his favor in a long-running family dispute over ownership and control of the Lahore Qalandars franchise. The ruling said that the transfer of 51% of shares from QALCO, which is controlled by Fawad Rana, to his younger brothers in 2018 and 2020 was legally void, unauthorized, and potentially fraudulent.
The tribunal ordered his brothers to either return majority control of the franchise to QALCO or pay Fawad Rana Rs 2.3 billion. They were given 45 days to comply, although the current management has said it plans to appeal.
The dispute traces back to 2015, when Fawad acquired the franchise as a family project and later alleged that fabricated share transfers were used to sideline him.
Fawad Rana Brothers
Fawad Rana brothers include younger siblings Atif Rana and Sameen Rana. Atif is the CEO of Lahore Qalandars, while Sameen serves as COO and team manager, and both were respondents in the arbitration case.
