Personal Profile About Husain Haqqani
Husain Haqqani is a Pakistani journalist, academic, political activist, author, and former diplomat. He currently serves as senior fellow and director for South and Central Asia at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C. He is also co-editor of Hudson’s journal Current Trends in Islamist Ideology and works as Diplomat-in-Residence at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi.
He began his career in the 1980s as a journalist and political advisor. He served as Special Assistant to Prime Ministers Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Nawaz Sharif, and Benazir Bhutto. He was Chairman of the House Building Finance Corporation. He also served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Sri Lanka and to the United States.
He worked as an associate professor of international relations at Boston University and as a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The Husain Haqqani biography states that he was born on July 1, 1956, in Karachi.
