Lauren Chantel Burns OAM is an Australian Olympic taekwondo champion. She holds a 3rd dan black belt from KUKKIWON. She also holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy and is an author, certified coach, and wellness expert.
The Lauren Burns biography notes she was born on June 8, 1974, in Melbourne, Australia. She grew up in a showbiz family and started taekwondo as a teenager after joining her brother’s classes. She trained intensively and competed with top international fighters in Korea. She received support from a Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship.
She became a 12-time Australian national champion in taekwondo before the Olympics. In the 2000 Sydney Olympics, she won Australia’s first Olympic gold medal in taekwondo in the women’s under 49 kg category. In 2017, she was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame for her contributions to taekwondo.
