Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur is the last ruler of the former princely State of Khairpur. He became ruler in July 1947 at age 14 after his father, Mir Faiz Muhammad Khan II, was removed from the throne because of poor health. Since Ali Murad was a minor, state affairs initially remained under a regency. Regent Mir Ghulam Hussain Khan Talpur signed Khairpur’s Instrument of Accession to Pakistan on his behalf on October 3, 1947. Ali Murad received full ruling powers on September 16, 1951.
