Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is an Indian weightlifter. She competes in the 48kg category. She won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and gold at other world weightlifting championships. She was appointed Additional Superintendent of Police for Sports by the Manipur government in January 2022. She holds the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awards.
She grew up in a household with very limited resources. She is the youngest of six siblings who regularly gathered firewood from nearby forests to reduce household costs.
