Mukul Roy was an Indian politician. He was a founding member of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 1998 and a close aide of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Often called the “Chanakya of Bengal politics,” he played a major role in party management and political expansion.

The Mukul Roy biography tells that he served as Union Minister of State for Railways from 2011 to 2012 in the UPA government. He was elected twice to the Rajya Sabha and later represented Krishnanagar Uttar in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
