Narges Mohammadi is an Iranian human rights activist, journalist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The Narges Mohammadi biography states that she was born on 21 April 1972 in Zanjan, Iran. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Imam Khomeini International University in Qazvin. She worked as a journalist for reformist publications before becoming a full-time activist.
She serves as vice-president and deputy director of the Defenders of Human Rights Center. She campaigns against the oppression of women, compulsory hijab laws, the death penalty, solitary confinement, and torture in Iran. She has been arrested 13 times, convicted 5 times, and sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison. She has spent years in Evin Prison and other facilities.
