She has also been the Second Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and Chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus.

Born on September 27, 1970, in Fort Worth, she started as a single mother in high school, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston in 1996, before completing her law degree at Texas A&M School of Law. Nicole has received the NAACP’s Roy Wilkins Civil Rights Award and Regional Legislator of the Year from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.
