Rajiv Malhotra is an Indian-American author, researcher, entrepreneur, and public intellectual on subjects of civilizations, religions, science, and cross-cultural encounters. He was born in New Delhi on September 15, 1950, and did his physics studies at St. Stephen's College in Delhi, and then his computer studies in the USA. He had a career spanning technology and entrepreneurship before moving on from the corporate world to concentrate on research and philanthropy. In 1994, Malhotra established the Infinity Foundation at Princeton, where he has sponsored research and educational programs in the field of Indian civilization. He is the author of several books: Being Different, Breaking India, Indra's Net. He has sparked many debates on Indian customs and how they are being understood today.
