Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was a Bangladeshi youth leader, activist, and English teacher. He was the spokesperson and convener of Inqilab Mancha, a student protest group. Sharif Osman Hadi died on December 18, 2025, at Singapore General Hospital while receiving treatment in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit. He had critical injuries, primarily to his head and jaw, and was on life support for six days before passing away.
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Sharif Osman Hadi death, and his body was repatriated to Bangladesh with assistance from Singapore authorities and the Bangladesh High Commission. Sharif Osman Hadi shot on December 12, 2025, around 2:25 PM in Dhaka’s Purana Paltan/Bijoynagar area. He was traveling on a battery-run rickshaw after Jumma prayers or campaigning. Masked assailants on a motorcycle fired multiple shots, hitting Osman Hadi in the head, jaw, and ear. He was first treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, then at Evercare Hospital, and airlifted to Singapore on December 15, 2025, as his condition worsened. Police are still investigating, and two key suspects have been identified. Hadi had previously reported death threats in November 2025.
