Ayatullah Syed Aqeel-ul-Gharavi is an Indian Twelver Shia scholar, mujtahid, philosopher, writer, poet, critic, and orator. He serves as Principal of Hawza-e-Ilmia Jamia-tus-Saqalain in Delhi, Chairman of Safinatul Hidaya Trust, Vice-President of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, and as the Majma’ al-Taqrib representative for the Indian subcontinent.
He has authored numerous books, including Tajalliyat, Ilm-o-Irada, Qaza-o-Qadr, Falsafa-e-Meraj, and a biography of Qasim ibn Hasan. He also supervises the Urdu magazine Adabi Kainat. Based in London, UK, he has delivered majalis and seminars in over 40 countries.
The Syed Aqeel-ul-Gharavi biography tells that he was born on February 2, 1964, in Banaras, India.He later migrated and received his primary education in Najaf, Iraq. He completed secondary schooling in India. He pursued advanced Hawza studies in Qom, Iran, and attained ijazah in ijtihad from Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi in 1994.
