Symone Sanders-Townsend is an American political commentator, author, and television host. She currently serves as an anchor and contributor on MSNBC, bringing extensive political strategy experience from her work inside major democratic presidential campaigns.
Born on December 10, 1989, in Omaha, Nebraska, Symone attended Mercy High School and later graduated with a degree in communications from Creighton University. She came into the national spotlight in 2016 when she served as the national press secretary for Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign at just 25 years old. In 2020, she joined Joe Biden’s presidential campaign as a senior advisor. After the election, she was appointed as the chief spokesperson and senior advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris.
She stepped down from her White House role in late 2021 and joined MSNBC, where she launched her own political talk show, SYMONE, and later co-hosted The Weekend. She is also the author of the memoir No, You Shut Up.
