Anas bin Malik narrated: A funeral (procession) passed by the Messenger of Allah and they were praising him with good statements. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Granted.' Then he said: 'You are Allah's witnesses on the earth.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مُرَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَنَازَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ کے پاس سے ایک جنازہ گزرا، لوگوں نے اس کی تعریف کی ۱؎ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ” ( جنت ) واجب ہو گئی“ پھر فرمایا: ”تم لوگ زمین پر اللہ کے گواہ ہو“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- انس کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عمر، کعب بن عجرہ اور ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔
