Anas bin Malik narrated: The Messenger of Allah saw some traces of saffron on `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf so he said: 'What is this?' He said: 'I married a woman for the amount of gold equal to a date stone.' So he said: 'May Allah bless you. Have a banquet, even if with only one sheep.'

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَثَرَ صُفْرَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَزُهَيْرِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ:‏‏‏‏ وَزْنُ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ:‏‏‏‏ وَزْنُ ثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ وَثُلُثٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ إِسْحَاق:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ وَزْنُ خَمْسَةِ دَرَاهِمَ وَثُلُثٍ.

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف کے جسم پر زردی کا نشان دیکھا تو پوچھا: یہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: میں نے ایک عورت سے کھجور کی ایک گٹھلی سونے کے عوض شادی کر لی ہے، آپ نے فرمایا: ”اللہ تمہیں برکت عطا کرے، ولیمہ ۱؎ کرو خواہ ایک ہی بکری کا ہو“ ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- انس کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن مسعود، عائشہ، جابر اور زہیر بن عثمان رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- احمد بن حنبل کہتے ہیں: گٹھلی بھر سونے کا وزن تین درہم اور تہائی درہم وزن کے برابر ہوتا ہے، ۴- اسحاق بن راہویہ کہتے ہیں: پانچ درہم اور تہائی درہم کے وزن کے برابر ہوتا ہے۔
