Taxi apps such as Uber, Careem, A-Taxi, Paxi has been nothing less than
a blessing for daily commuters. Many of us do own a car but traffic is
pretty wild out there. We are going to compare the five cab service
available currently.
Paxi and A-Taxi is more conventional business model as they own their
own cars with branded logo with full time employee driving. Whereas Uber
and Careem follows newer business notion in which anyone with a
qualified car and a driver can register with them. These cars aren’t
branded with the logo and they have much larger taskforce.

UBER
A global brand, it doesn’t needs an introduction and it serves in many
countries of the world. Uber is restricted to major cities of Pakistan
like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. It is amongst one of the best rated
service quick and prompt. It was one of the first cab services to launch
in Pakistan that worked accurately.
Most drivers are reliable, professional and well-mannered with the
knowledge of roads. They don’t have a physical office or helpline number
which makes it hard for customers to reach or file their complaint and
ask queries. Emailing them is the only way to get in touch with them.
The charges are cheaper compared to other service provider. The services
vary from driver to driver. All you got to do is install the Uber app,
put in your pickup/drop off location and the car will be at your door in
5 to 10 mins. The estimated fare is given upon booking your ride. |

CAREEM
Careem is another popular cab service which operates in Pakistan. Like
Uber it is available in all major cities of Karachi, Peshawar,
Islamabad, Lahore and few others. Careem launched in Pakistan after
successful service in the Middle East. Before the Careem app was
developed, customers would use browser to do bookings. There is wide
variety of cars from Toyota Corolla to Alto, available with different
classes – economy, business, and go with their own separate rates.
Drivers can be employees or car owners; the concept is same as Uber.
There can be exceptions cases varying the service but overall it is one
of the top services. The biggest issue is with the maps not being
accurate or drivers aren’t able to navigate the location promptly.
Careem has been operating from Pakistan, so they have their own offices
around the city. Although Careem call center agents aren’t really able
to address your issues with the cancelling or booking a ride. They do
offer good promos but sometimes codes aren’t being accepted on the
Careem app.
Download the app and you can book your ride and the car will be at your
location in 5 to 10 minutes. Your experience can differ based upon the
driver. But one should be cautious when commuting through cab service. |

A-TAXI BY ALBAYRAK
It is the Turkey based company which started cab operations from Lahore
with 100 yellow cabs with logo. You can hail the cab like any other
normal cab in the streets or you can download the app named as ‘Taxi
7X24’. The app has some issues and so it’s better to call them on their
UAN number to book a ride. |
|
PAXI
The Pink Taxi offers one of the first female cab service that is
operated within Pakistan. You can hail the pink taxi by downloading the
app or by calling them or simply by flagging down on the street. This
female operated cab service is only for women, which is very reassuring
from the safety point. The main aim is to provide safe transportation to
women passenger, as women faces never-ending harassment when taking
public transportation. |
|
METRO CAB
It is one of the oldest cab services in Pakistan and they later came up
with app as well. You don’t have to register into this app, just feed in
your request and it will take ages to process your location. I would
suggest calling them instead of using the app. The charges are on pricey
side, you would get much better fare from Uber or Careem.
