World's best airlines for 2019 revealed by Skytrax

The results are in -- Qatar Airways is back on top with flying colors, nabbing the top spot at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Last year, the Gulf carrier was pipped to the post by Singapore Airlines, but now Qatar Airways is celebrating its fifth time grabbing the prestigious accolade -- having previously won in 2017, 2015, 2012 and 2011.
 

 Skytrax has revealed its picks for the best airlines of the year. At number 10 is Thai Airways. This airline also won Best Airline Staff in Asia and World's Best Airline Spa Facility.

Germany's Lufthansa dropped two places to ninth spot on the list, but still won the accolade for best Airline in Europe.

Australia's Qantas Airways -- which has a long-running advertising campaign featuring a live koala -- was in eight place, and was also named Best Airline in Australia.

China's Hainan Airlines also moved up a spot this year, taking seventh place. The airline also won the awards for Best Business Class Amenities, Best Airline in China and Best Airline Staff in China.

Taiwanese carrier EVA Air dropped one slot in the ranking, taking sixth place. It was also awarded World's Cleanest Airline and World's Best Economy Class Catering.

Emirates won best airline in 2016 -- but this year it slipped to fifth place. It also won the award for World's Best Inflight Entertainment.

Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific jumped two slots this year, making it to fourth place.

 Once again, Japanese airline ANA All Nippon Airways came third in Skytrax's report. The airline also won World's Best Airport Services and World's Best Business Class Onboard Catering.

Last year's winner is this year's runner-up. Singapore Airlines was in second place in 2019, but still took awards for World's Best Cabin Crew, World's Best First Class, Best Airline in Asia and World's Best First Class Seat.

Qatar Airways reclaimed the top slot this year, after losing out to Singapore Airlines in 2018. The airline also won World's Best Business Class, World's Best Business Class Seat and the Best Airline in the Middle East. Click on through the gallery to see more category winners.
