There is a reason why the paparazzi is not yet an
extinct profession, and why we buy gossip magazines en masse: we love
celebrity life. However, we do not know everything about them. For
example, did you know that these celebrities are Muslim?
Mehmet Oz
Many know Mehmet Oz as a doctor in The Dr. Oz Show. He is an acclaimed
cardiothoracic surgeon and he is a Muslim. In an interview with PBS, the
surgeon once said that he sometimes struggled with his identity. For
example, his father came from the “Quran Belt”, an area where
conservative Islamic values are strongly adhered to. His mother was
from the secular part of Turkey. “I struggled a lot with my Muslim
identity,” says Mehmet. According to him, this had to do with the
different beliefs of his parents. |

Dave Chapelle
According to CBS News, Dave Chapelle has long been known as the funniest
man in America. And we get it. He has played in films such as The Nutty
Professor, Con Air, and Half Baked. In addition, he is still performing
as a standup comedian today. You can watch his hilarious shows on
Netflix. He jokes about anything and everything. Something less often
mentioned is the comedian’s belief. “I don’t usually talk about my
religion because I don’t want people to associate me and my flaws with
something so beautiful,” he told Time Magazine. |

tons of fans who adore him for his rap skills. He converted to Islam in
the 1990s and spoke to The Guardian in an interview in 2000. “I call
myself ‘a natural Muslim’, because it is God and me. I don’t go to the
mosque and don’t do the rituals and traditions. I’m just not like that,”
