If you’ve always dreamed of packing up your
house and moving around whenever you like, this foldable tiny
house that comes with plumbing and electrical wiring
pre-installed is going to seem mighty interesting.
Latvian startup Brette Haus only started producing its ingenious
foldable houses last December, but its innovative design and
technology has already made quite an impression both on the
general public and housing experts. Using cross-laminated timber
as the main construction material, Brette Haus can build a whole
house in 8 weeks, and then install it anywhere in 3-4 hours.
Because it doesn’t require a permanent foundation, the foldable
house can be moved at any time, and has minimum impact on the
land it’s set up on.

Although it didn’t come up with the foldable house concept, Brette Haus
did introduce a series of innovations, like a patented metal hinge turn
mechanism and the space doubles feature which increases space by 149%,
that make its tiny houses some of the best on the market. The fact that
each house comes equipped with almost all technical facilities included
(sewage, electric wiring, and plumbing) is a big bonus as well.

“After years in wooden industries, we have concluded that prefabrication
manufacturing is the most up to date way of building a house,”
Brette Haus founder, Gennadii Bakunin, said. “It is just like when you
play LEGO – you have separate parts, which have to be put together.
Brette Haus «plays» LEGO for a customer and then constructs a tiny home
perfect for instant moving in.”

Brette Haus currently offers 3 versatile house designs, with sizes
varying between 20 and 50 square meters. A 70 square meter option is
currently in the works. The foldable abodes can be transported pretty
much anywhere, and are installed in around 3 hours, using a small crane.

The Latvian startup currently takes about 8 weeks to build a single
foldable home, but plans to reduce that time to half by enlarging our
manufacturing space and increasing the production rate.
