A playful monkey grabbed a wildlife photographers
camera and took a self portrait, which is now taking the web by storm.
The cheeky monkey is pretty darn cute, but how did he take the portrait
without any human help? The photographer apparently had followed a group
of the crested black macaque monkeys around when suddenly one of them
grabbed his camera, which was mounted on a tripod, and started taking
it's own self-portrait. The results were hilarious and showed the
inquisitiveness of the endangered species.
"They were quite mischievous, jumping all over my equipment. One hit the
button. The sound got his attention and he kept pressing it. At first it
scared the rest of them away but they soon came back - it was amazing to
watch," said photographer David Slater.

When the monkey finally released his camera, there were literally
hundreds of pictures taken by the curious animal. Surely not all of them
were good because that would be an insult if a monkey knew how to get a
better picture of itself than a human, but some of the photos were
amazing. The monkey even managed to take a decent shot of the
photographer looking rather amused at the situation. Wasn't he supposed
to be the one taking the photos?
Now, the photos have shown up all over the internet on various news
sites and even on the news show Fox and Friends. Though some doubt the
cameraman's story, it appears as though the monkey was enticed by the
shutter sound of the camera and thus the portraits were taken. Pretty
impressive work for a novice!
