Mobile devices to outnumber humans by 2016
Mobile devices will outnumber human beings on planet Earth by 2016,
leading to a massive increase in demand for mobile data, a new report by
Cisco has claimed. The research indicates that annual mobile data
traffic last year was eight times the size of the global internet in
2000. The web is expected to be carrying 130 exabytes of data every year
by 2016, equivalent to 33 billion DVDs and 4.3 quadrillion MP3
files. Cisco's report claims that there will be 10bn connected devices
in the world by 2016, far outnumbering the 7.3bn people expected to live
on Earth according to United Nations population estimates.

India woman leaves home for lack of toilet
A newlywed woman in a village in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has
won her struggle to have a toilet at her husband's home. Anita
Narre left husband Shivram's home two days after her marriage in May
last year because the house had no toilet. She returned eight days later
after Shivram, a daily wage worker, built one with savings and aid from
villagers. An NGO announced a $10,000 reward for Mrs Narre for her
"brave" decision and forcing her husband to build a toilet. More than
half-a-billion Indians still lack access to basic sanitation. The problem
is acute in rural India and it is the women who suffer most.Shivram said
he was not able to build a toilet at home because of lack of money.

Florida man injured by exploding electronic
cigarette
A Florida man got the shock of his life on Wednesday when an electronic
cigarette he was using exploded in his mouth. Honestly, you try to do
the right thing and it all blows up in your face. A Florida man who
finally came around to the idea of giving up smoking decided to use an
electronic cigarette to help him try to kick the habit. So far so good,
you might think. The problem for 57-year-old Tom Holloway, however, was
that while it was in his mouth the thing exploded. The explosion was so
severe that it destroyed some of his front teeth, as well as part of his
tongue, and left his face severely burned. On top of that, carpet,
cushions and pictures in his home were set on fire.

Toys cannot hold protest because they are not
citizens of Russia
There hadn't been many – indeed any – rallies like it before in Russia.
Last month saw dozens of toys, from teddy bears to Lego figurines,
standing out in the snow of a Siberian city with banners complaining
about corruption and electoral malpractice. At the time, Russian
authorities in Barnaul declared the protest "an unsanctioned public
event". Now a petition to hold another protest featuring 100 Kinder
Surprise toys, 100 Lego people, 20 model soldiers, 15 soft toys and 10
toy cars has been rejected because the toys have been deemed not to be
"citizens of Russia". "As you understand, toys, especially imported
toys, are not only not citizens of Russia but they are not even people,"
Andrei Lyapunov, a spokesman for Barnaul, told local media.

lifesize-tank-made-5000-egg-cartons-3
If Humpty Dumpty made armoured fighting vehicles… Well, firstly it’d be
somewhat of a surprise – but it might look a little something like the
cardboard combat carton seen here. The Challenger 2 replica, built from
over five thousand egg boxes, has been created to raise money for a
military charity. Sculptor Stuart Murdoch utilised 26 litres of glue,
over 10,000 nails, 15 litres of paint, 80 square metres of steel and
5,013 staples to create the piece, taking three weeks to complete it.
