The colourful landscape of the Canyonlands National
Park makes for an incredible sight at any time of the day.
But this stunning image of the multiple canyons in Utah, America, at
dawn shows the tourist attraction in a whole new light as it is bathed
in early morning sunlight.
The vast national park, which covers more than 300,000 acres and is
viewed here through the Mesa Arch, was captured at sunrise by
photographer Clane Gessel.

Gessel says he was inspired to become a landscape photographer after
moving to Utah and seeing the Canyonlands for the very first time, which
sparked a life-long love for the outdoors.
He said: 'Everybody loves photography — it's a way to visually express
yourself and show your vision. I decided to start shooting to show my
vision of how I see things.
'My love of the outdoors and getting people excited about the great
place we live is why I love landscapes.'

The Canyonlands National Park, located in southeastern Utah near the
town of Moab, contains countless canyons, mesas and buttes alongside the
Colorado River and the Green River.
The park is divided into four districts - the Island in the Sky, the
Needles, the Maze, and the rivers themselves.

Author Edward Abbey, a frequent visitor, described the Canyonlands as
'the most weird, wonderful, magical place on earth—there is nothing else
like it anywhere'. |
