The residents of Swat valley took sigh of relief
after sun peeped through the heavy clouds on Wednesday morning following
three days heavy rain in Swat valley and home-stranded people thronged
to business centers and vegetable markets for purchasing of daily use
items.
Great rush of buyers was witnessed in Mingora bazaars where people were
seen busy in buying vegetables and others daily use items besides
attendance of students in schools was also enhanced after bright sunny
day in Swat valley.

Despite bright sunny day in Swat, the weather remained cold after scenic
Malamjabba and Kalam valleys received two feet and eight inch snowfall
respectively during last 24 hours, forcing the people to wear additional
warm clothes and sweet to fight the chilly air and women were seen busy
in selecting warm garments for their children in different bazaars of
the city.
According to the spokesman of Met Office here, Mallamjabba received 2ft,
Murree 1.5ft and Kalam 08 Inches of snow during last 24 hours, which has
turned the weather even more chiller in these areas. The weather of
Saidu Sharif also remained chilly after receiving 43 millimeter rain
during last 24 hours.
However, the spell of heavy rain and snowfall has subsided last night
and people took sigh of relief after bright sunny shinning on Wednesday
morning. The Met Office predicted cold and dry weather for Swat during
next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the district administration has accelerated relief operation
by removing snow, landslides and avalanches from links roads leading to
Malamjabba, Madyan and Kalam road for facilitation of people and
tourists.
Tourists were coming back to their hometowns after enjoying snowfall and
great rush of passengers was seen on transport terminals in Mingora
here. However, the people complained about high fares charged by the
local transporters.
"I came to Swat last Sunday with my family to enjoy snowfall," Misal
Khan, a retired Govt employee told APP.

"I am very happy that peace has returned to Swat valley and appeal to
foreign and local tourists to come to Malamjabba and Kalam to enjoy
mountaineering, waterfalls and tracking besides warm hospitality of
residents of Swat people," he said.
The Met Office has forecasts mainly cold and dry weather in most parts
of the country, however, light rain/snowfall was expected at few places
of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours. The weather of KP
and Fata will likely to remain cold and dry during next 48 hours.
During last 24 hours, widespread rain/thunderstorm with snowfall over
the hills occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper/Central Punjab including
Islamabad, Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan.

The maximum rain was received by Rawalakot 68mm, Rawalpindi 56,
Islamabad 54, Garridupatta 50, Murree 45, Chirat, Saidusharif & Risalpur
43, Pesahawar 37, Kakul 35, Sialkot & Dir 34, Muzaffarabad & Kotli 32,
Mangla 31, Pattan 28, Chakwal 26, Balakot & M.B.Ding 25, D.I.Khan 24,
Noorpurthal 23, Jhelum 22, Mianwali 21, Bhakkar 20, Joharabad 18, Kalam
16, Dir, Drosh 15, Gujranwala 14, Gupis & Kohat 13, Faisalabad 12, T.T.
Singh 11, Multan & Sargodha 10mm during last 24 hours. The minimum
temperature was recorded at Parachinar -12 C, followed by Skardu -09 C,
Astore -08, Malamjabba -06, Murree -05, Quetta, Drosh, Gupis -04 C,
Mirkhani & Rawalakot -03 C, Dir & Dalbandin -02 C respectively.
