Karachi is a cosmopolitan hub that accommodates
almost more than a million population. The city is known for its hectic
commercial life, lively weekends, and glamorous night life. The most
significant activity of Karachiites is to hang out or dine in with
friends and family at some amazing food streets or restaurants.
Its weekend already and you want to chill out after a long hectic week,
where will you land in? Dine in option suits most the people in Karachi
as there are some amazing eating outlets, food streets and restaurants.
Food Street culture is new to Karachi and spreading at a rapid pace
across the city. It is considered as the most refreshing way of
entertainment that is a need of this city.
The expansion of food streets in Pakistan has faced some resistance,
from local traders objecting to the competition and to the congestion
and pressure on parking and other facilities caused by the rush of the
people to the food street.
The street food culture is nothing new to Karachi as we used to have
traditional eating outlets in Desi style since time immemorial. There
are five things that your taste buds most miss about Karachi. Firstly,
Tea from Pathan Hotel/ dhabba is an absolute treat. The traditional way
of serving tea in small cups that can accommodate few sips only is loved
my masses. Secondly, Bun kebabs from road side stall, in my opinion it
is a mix of dirt beneath the fingernails of the thela wala merged with
the summer sweat, yuck! Keep the hygiene factors aside, bun kebabs are
certainly delicious- but only if it is purchased from the genuine Burns
Road thele walas not from a place like Gazebo or Chatkharay. Thirdly,
halwa puri at Boat Basin, waking up on a weekend seems an impossible
task but coupled with a promise of halwa puri breakfast at Boat Basin is
simply irresistible. Sitting on broken chairs and tables with flies
buzzing around, you can actually feel the heat from the large frying pan
that they prepare puris in- the taste and experience is parallel to
none. Gola Ganda at Dhoraji is something one cannot miss at all! The
artistic creation that encompasses crushed ice combined with Pakola and
Rooh Afza flavored fizz, condensed milk and cheap melted chocolate
topping Ahh yummy indeed! Last but not the least; it’s the Pani Puri at
Sea View that leaves you drooling for more.
