Initiating a new business is never easy in a country like Pakistan.
Talking about starting a web portal for a non tech savvy audience is
definitely risky. Back in August 2007, six remarkable individuals with a
vision to create an exclusive Urdu website for local viewers. Founders
of HamariWeb believed that there is a huge online viewership for quality
Urdu content that needs to be catered. Founded by Mr. Abrar Ahmed and
handled by Project Head Mr. Rizwan Shaikh, HamariWeb team kick started
to follow its vision #JoMeinChahoon. Having
the aim of following their dreams #JoMeinChahoon,
the team comprising of 1 developer, and one SEO professional were the
first comers.
The categories that were introduced at the initial stage were News
section, Finance, Cricket, Islam, and Poetry. The most glorious Mobile
section was launched in 2007. The section performed par excellence in
clinching the huge online visitor base. Campaigns of various brands like
OPPO, VIVO, Samsung, Zong etc have played a vital role in generating
revenues and attracting huge traffic to the website.
HamariWeb achieved a milestone after one year of its launch with the
commencement of Expo Pakistan 27-29 October 2008 event. The response of
the event was overwhelming. Symmetry was our first advertiser who
brought in various advertisement campaigns to the company. ITCN Asia
11-13 August 2008 is another event where HamariWeb team participated and
it wonders for the company.
Similar to other startups, HamariWeb also faced various hurdles but the
passion and hard work of HamariWeb team who truly believed in achieving
#JoMeinChahoon is the driving force that
motivated them. There was lack of trained professional resources during
the early years. The company didn’t have the proper workforce to handle
different categories of HamariWeb. During 2009-2010, Dictionary section
was added. With the passage of time, the team of HamariWeb expanded and
addition of new SEOs and designers strengthens HW family.
Following the trend of dedication, passion, and hard work to achieve
milestone #JoMeinChahoon, the company was
able to achieve break even in 2011, after investing vigorously for 5
years. During the same time period, YouTube was banned in Pakistan that
was the time when the think tank of HamariWeb decided to make home
production videos. The ideas were successfully executed.
Following the passion of success to achieve #JoMeinChahoon,
HamariWeb is able to get into a partnership with BBC in 2013. It is the
result of immense dedication and hard work of team members. BBC Urdu &HamariWeb
started internet distribution Partnership. BBCUrdu.com content was
published on Pakistan’s Hamariweb.com London, 22 February 2011. This
initiative brought goodwill to the company.
Innovation and passion to excel continued from time to time, as we enter
the digital era, HamariWeb launched its mobile version in 2014. Huge
number of downloads and over whelming response proved that those who
believe in achieving #JoMeinChahoon can
create wonders.
TV Channels is the main earning feature of HamariWeb. Initially ARY,
SAMMA, and Dunya News joined live streaming on HamariWeb. Later with the
passage of time other TV channels joined the live streaming at HamariWeb.
Ten Sports entered into a live streaming partnership for some time and
that helped us in earning huge visitor base. Apart from TV Channels,
Election 2013 proved to be the most successful event for HamariWeb ad we
were able to get 1.6 million visitors on election day, which is a record
yet to break.

on Pakistan ranking 6th on Alexa in such small period of time. The
