Danny Briggs made his mark as a slow-left arm bowler on the England Under-19 tour of Bangladesh in 2009, where he finished as his side's leading wicket-taker with eight wickets. He broke into the Hampshire first team in 2009, having played in the county's youth teams since the age of the nine, and by the following season was a first-team regular.
Several noteworthy performances caught the eye in 2010, as he took 4 for 93 to help set up a dramatic - and vital - win over Kent at Canterbury with just minutes to spare in the match in September 2010, bowling Hampshire to victory and first division safety. On the same ground he recorded outstanding Twenty20 figures of 3 for 5 in four overs, again against Kent, and set a club record of 31 wickets in the FPt20 competition as Hampshire won the 2010 Trophy - including his Man of the Match award in the semi final.
