He is the son of former Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif and the nephew of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. He is the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly and has been elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan twice. He is also a senior member of the PML-N and is considered to be one of the most powerful politicians in the Punjab province. He has served as the Minister of Youth Affairs, Minister of Industries and Production, and Minister of Health in the Government of Pakistan.
