Born on 1 January 1983 in Muridke, Pakistan, he grew up in a poor Catholic Christian family and was forced into bonded labor at a very young age. Despite harsh conditions and long hours of work, he escaped at age 10, completed his education quickly, and spoke internationally about child labor.
