The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) announced on Friday the
results for Secondary School Certificate Part I General Group of regular and
private candidates. The pass percentage was 54.93 percent.
Of the the 23,892 private and regular candidates who sat for the papers, only
13,123 students passed the examinations clearing all five papers, said BSEK
Controller Examinations Noman Ahsan.
Of the total regular candidates who were successful, 7,444 were girls and 2,588
were boys.
The pass percentage of regular candidates stood at 57.43 percent.
The pass percentage of private candidates was 48.11 percent with a total of 886
girls and 2,205 boys clearing all the papers.
A total of 5,331 (22.31) percent cleared four papers; 2,828 students (11.84
percent) managed to clear three papers; 1,430 students (5.99 percent) passed two
papers; whereas a total of 809 (3.39 percent) could clear one paper only.
The board official said 18,200 students had registered as regular candidates
while 7,059 had registered as private candidates. The total strength to sit for
the examinations stood at 25,259.
However, 17,467 regular and 6,425 private candidates registered for the papers
and a total of 733 and 634 students, respectively, did not appear for the
examination.
