The Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) has developed a computerised
date-sheet of more than 800 subjects while centre establishment exercise, which
was previously done manually, has also been computerised.
Taking to The News, the PBTE Secretary, Haroon Naseer, said these initiatives
had not only saved precious time but almost finished discrepancies in the
system. He added these had also minimised the expenditure of the board.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PBTE is responsible for conduct of
examination of three years Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE), two years
Diploma of Commerce (D Com), two years Diploma of Business Administration (DBA),
two years Matric Tech, two years Matric Vocational and more than 50 short
duration technical and vocational courses. The technical education board
conducts two major examination activities in June and November every year,
besides attesting and certifying trainees of Punjab Skills Development Fund
(PSDF).
“The present management has taken an initiative to consolidate all the
registration schedules and had issued a consolidated registration schedule in
July, 2014, so that the students can get a picture of whole year and plan their
admission accordingly,” the secretary said, adding the same schedule was also
uploaded on PBTE website for information.
Haroon said the PBTE management had streamlined its budget and SOPs relating to
different business process for the facilitation of students while efforts had
been made to make the diplomas issuance process transparent. All diplomas for
the year 2013 have been issued. A backlog of almost 40,000 diplomas was also
cleared, he added.
