China’s Global Governance Initiative: A move to convert the world to a peaceful, Multipolar, and Balanced one, Part III Dr. Syed Mehboob Senior Business and Political Analyst
This Global Governance Initiative (GGI) of China is highly important and is a need of the time. It has been given much importance in both Asian and Western Media. Many global leaders, intellectuals, media persons, and researchers described it as a welcome move and the start of a new era advancing towards global durable peace and cooperation. If this Global Governance Initiative is implemented, it will give importance to the United Nations Organization (UNO) and its charter, will eliminate unilateral steps jeopardizing global peace and tranquility, and will enhance respect for diverse cultures and religions. It will pave the way for tolerance and will be highly helpful for eliminating extremism and terrorism. We hope that the Palestinian people will be able to achieve independence and that the bloodshed in Gaza will be stopped. As hoped and as mentioned by President Xi Jinping, it will be the end of “ Double Standards” and the rule imposed by a few countries. Analysts believe that if this GGI is implemented, there will be an end to unilateral use of veto in favour of a favorite country of world power, allowing it to continue genocide while at the other hand, using brutal force to crush a small country like Afghanistan. If GGI is implemented, then all sorts of violence and terrorism will be dealt with similarly. The issue of human rights will no longer be used as a political weapon against rival countries. It will treat all humans equally regardless of their economic status, religion, caste, creed, or race. President Xi Jinping wants the people of every nation to be actors in and beneficiaries of global governance. He wants to narrow down the North-South gap, better safeguard, and bring people closer. Through his Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) 150 countries are connected and getting benefits. GGI would further bring people of the world closer together to create a better understanding and build a strong foundation of cooperation. The Chinese president then made the case for taking real actions, saying that countries should adopt a systematic and holistic approach, coordinate global actions, fully mobilize various resources, and strive for more visible outcomes. He stressed the need to enhance practical cooperation to prevent the governance system from being hindered or fragmented. President Xi Jinping called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to step up and play a leading role and set an example in carrying out the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), and stressed that the grouping should contribute to safeguarding world peace and stability. He stressed open cooperation across the globe and to dismantle walls, and not to erect them, and to take integration, and not decoupling. He also urged the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and push for universality, beneficial, and inclusive economic globalization. President Xi Jinping announced the decision to establish three major platforms for China-SCO cooperation in energy, green industry, and the digital economy, and to set up three major cooperation centres for Sci-Tech innovation, higher education, and vocational and technical training. He also assured participants that China will work with the fellow SCO member countries in the next five years to increase the installed capacity of photovoltaic and wind power by ten million kilowatts each. President Xi Jinping then urged the SCO countries to set an example in championing the common values of humanity, while announcing China’s decision to treat five hundred patients with congenital heart disease, perform five thousand cataract operations, and carry out ten thousand cancer screenings for other Shanghai Cooperation (SCO)countries. He also appealed to the SCO countries to defend international fairness and justice, saying they should continue to unequivocally oppose hegemonism and power politics, practice true multilateralism, and to stand as a pillar in promoting a multipolar world and greater democracy in international relations. The initiative was widely welcomed and supported during the meeting, as leaders highlighted the need for a more effective governance philosophy and system as the world is confronted with widening deficits in governance, challenges to sustainable development and rising unilateralism. President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) was the biggest highlight of this year’s very important SCO Summit. The initiative’s underlying principles are fully in line with the purposes and principles of the United Nations’ Charter. The United Nations Organizations charter describes the purpose of UNO in following words: The Purposes of the United Nations are: 1. To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace; 2. To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace; 3. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion; and 4. To be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends. President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) underlined principles fully consistent with the purpose and principles of the UN Charter. In fact, it is designed to firmly support the central role of the UN in international affairs and to encourage all countries to participate in the reform and development of the global governance system through the UN and other multilateral mechanisms. Nurlan Yermekbayev, the SCO's secretary-general, said the fact that the Global Governance Initiative "was put forward on the SCO platform carries profound symbolic significance". "Indeed, the principles enshrined in the initiative are of paramount importance, with the people-centered approach standing out in particular. After all, as we all recognize, the initiative's central purpose is to advance human development and improve people's livelihoods."
President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) is the outcome of centuries-old Chinese wisdom, its desire and thirst for peace, its 11-year war against Japanese Fascist aggression, and its glorious victory in this war, and the year 2025 is the 80th anniversary of this glorious victory. It manifests its commitment to peace, cooperation, friendship, trade enhancement, resource sharing, and respect for other cultures, religions, and the sovereignty of independent countries. Peace-loving countries are joining hands and are ready to cooperate, and all eyes are on CHINA, which is the FUTURE OF THE WORLD, a World Champion of Development, Technology, and President Xi Jinping is the Global Leader of peace lovers. A new sun is rising from the east; this is the message of the SCO Summit 2025, and this message is clear: let us join hands for International Peace and harmony, let us stop war and violence, let us end confrontation and promote brotherhood, friendship, and cooperation, and these can be achieved under the leadership of CHINA, and as I believe and many others that THIS CENTURY IS THE CENTURY OF CHINA and let us hope that we will be able to see peace in the world in our lives.
