Corruption

(Muniza Wasi, KARACHI)

Corruption in our society is so common now that it doesn’t even provoke our senses any more. From the higher authorities of the government to the lower ranked individuals; it has penetrated far and wide and mingled so well that it is a common sight now-a-days.

Television channels are banging our heads that this minister’s corruption reached this level and that secretary of minister corrupted to that extent, and the amount is counted to millions and billions even trillions, but the corrupted personalities just continue to smile majestically; thus showing that we don’t care whatever you say as far as our bank accounts are bulking and increase in our wealth continues. The research organization for corruption NAB is under their thumb, and every one in the government seems hand in glove with the authorities to have their share in the spring of money that is oozing from the hands of the government. The economical condition has crashed but still no effect on higher authorities, people of the country are so deprived and depressed that they could not find a way to survive, have their fill; they do not have sufficient enough food to remain healthy and alive; as a result the rate of suicides in our country is increasing day by day.

People work like donkeys, exhausting their lives out, doing double jobs to make both ends meet, some succeed in their task of live hand to mouth, while some fail as there is lack of job facilities, increasing unemployment; which result either in their committing crimes or taking their lives by suicide attempts.

This hopeless condition is only because the government is only willing to spend on the welfare of itself and its fellow officers who can be useful to its own survival. All the aids, countries resources are misused, resulting in ever grieving common man.

The result is that the common man is now on the line of corruption, not all but those who are helpless with the condition and are not eager on moral values take their refuge in little corruptions, such an example is a plumber who charges for his service and ask the parts that are not even required for repair, then sells those parts in the market to his acquainted merchant who take them at a lower cost par market. Electricians, other repairing handyman also have their secret methods of corruption.

Thus the government has made every one to get money by hook or crook. This is a serious condition because a nation can’t build itself without moral values. The flood of corruption should be stopped but who would stop it in the government machinery is a big question mark
