The Mass is Optimistic or Pessimistic

(Abdul Rehman Meer, Islamabad)

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan got freedom in 1947. It has been facing miserable circumstances since it lost all its pioneers and founders. It was established on the basis of the first principle of Islam; ‘There is no God but Allah, Muhammad PBUH is the messenger of Allah’. Muslims are in majority in Pakistan but on the other hand none Muslims, the minorities may also live in this country by following the constitutional and legal terms. The constitution of Pakistan absorbs all the principles to follow and rules and regulations to implement within all institutions. Democracy is the manifesto of Pakistan where people are the truly power of the state because democracy is for the people, by the people and among the people. The people elect their leaders by their precious vote. The vote here is the symbol of change of the destiny of the people and nation. Everyone knows the worth of his vote.

The last month May 11, was considered the hallmark of change in the country. The people of Pakistan used their vote in order to show solidarity and sincerity to the nation but no one knows what would happen in near future. Everyone seemed very optimistic for a prosperous future. The people of Pakistan are very honest and sympathetic when they are going to vote in favor of their ideal parties. They came out of their houses to vote whatever the weather or situation is to face and have elected their new leaders. They have been facing all kinds of troubles of the world for the last many decades. They have been facing hottest and coldest weather in summer and winter. Load-shedding is the most troublesome problem of Pakistan and it has been mounting at a higher scale instead of declining to a lower range. All institutions and sectors are still suffering in this curse which seems unavoidable. The people of Pakistan have lost their hope in this case. They seem pessimistic when it is the matter of load-shedding.

In addition to dealing with a grim financial crisis, a deepening energy shortage will be a major worry for the new government because it will worsen with the rise in temperature in coming weeks. The people would expect the new government to deliver but they will give them some time. It does not seem that the people will give too much time to the new government to resolve these issues. This is a severest and gravest issue that the new government is to face. The new government will have to work hard in order to win public heart. Otherwise, the ratio of protest may increase to a higher range across the nation because the people have been burning in a huge inferno for the last many years.

There is no place left in Pakistan where there is no load-shedding. The solution is looking upon our face and we seem blind. Allah has created Pakistan at such a region where all resources are available except few. The most important resource is water which can play vital role in elimination of load-shedding from Pakistan. The only thing is to invest and make effective plans and strategies. Load-shedding is fake crisis in a country like Pakistan where river Indus flows with its mighty force. Indus is the longest river in Pakistan on which Pakistan can install hydropower to generate electricity. If such measurement or step is taken then Pakistan would stand in the array of world’s electricity supplying states. The resourceful Gilgit Baltistan can be a ray of hope for Pakistan to tackle with hundreds of problems. These places possess variety of resources which is deemed to be miracles for Pakistan. The main problem of the country is energy crisis. If the government and the people of Pakistan gather at one point agenda to resolve this troublesome issue then they have to invest in Gilgit-Baltistan and generate electricity. Otherwise, it will take thousands of years if firm and immediate steps are not taken to resolve this miserable energy crisis.

The economy of the country is also linked with energy situation in the country. The business sector’s walls are about to collapse because of the current scenario. Our industries and markets are being shuttered down and are waiting for a miracle to happen but no miracle seems to reveal. This era is deemed as an era of change by the people but on contrary the policy makers are assimilating the present crisis with that of the past policies. The people interpret the election slogans 2013 of each party and are optimistic that their troubles may soon be diminished. The people have not forgotten the television advertisements of every party. It can be said that the newly elected government has to fulfill its promises and must function to resolve energy crisis at first. If load-shedding is resolved during this five years then the credit will go to the ruling government specially PML-N but the immediate, profitable and durable solution to energy crisis is hydropower plants in the country especially on Indus River.

After the election May 2013, a challenging and competitive dilemma has been created by the people in each province. All the provinces have given mandate to different parties such as KPK has given mandate to PTI, Punjab PML-N, Sindh PPP and Baluchistan has given to National Party. So, it was an unplanned mandate but it happened miraculously. Now, the people can easily see in near future that which party can deliver best in their respective assemblies. On the other hand, the ruling government that is supposed to be PML-N has to deliver in Punjab as well as in Federal. The new government can play a vital role in nation development by promoting all the basic and fundamental fields. It has to toil hard to restore the bending pillars of the nation.

There are a lot of challenges that the new government has to resolve and get credit to make its strong status in public mind and heart. The miseries, energy crisis, corruption, terrorism, inflation, law and order situation, food shortage, poverty, unsatisfactory education policy, exploitation, bribery, injustice, poor economy, burglary etc. are increasing day by day.

There is no proper check and balance in any of the institution across the nation. Our system is totally corrupt and derailed. Which institution or department is satisfactory or sincere to the nation? Although, we cannot blame on an institution or department but the workers including officers to watchmen are involved in misusing government’s resources, corruption and exploitation. No one seems to be patriotic or a truly Pakistani. Most of these people even ponder that they can do whatever they want. Even the adults know the reasons of being failure of the system. We are still in the era of ignorance because we are language biased, religion biased, province biased, culture and color biased.
Poverty is increasing throughout the country because of the collision of the important pillars of the nation. Terrorism and energy crisis have shaken the root of the nation. Today we are dejected in our own country. Every citizen is found abusing of their own failure to the country. Our people are to some extent patient and sincere to the nation. They have been facing all these troubles and miseries for the last many decades. The basic things (Rooti, Kapra ar Makan) have been the slogan of all the parties during the elections. The people fight for bread from Morning to Evening. Most of them are going hands to mouth. The people are grouped into many classes. The upper class looking for places to spend money, on contrary the lower class is looking FOR places to earn money. The upper class is millionaire but the lower class is beggars. Middle class and poor class cannot afford to pay for their daily life commodities because of sky rocketing prices. Those people who earn below forty thousand become pauperized after the fifteenth of each month and beg for loan for the rest of the month. Everyone is mentally disturbed in the country because of the poor economy.
There comes the most niggling issue that is terrorism which has also stunned the structure of the whole nation. People are stricken due to obnoxious bomb blast and target killings. Our lives are unsafe and unprotected everywhere in the country due to the existence of mysterious elements. Our economy is also affected by the ongoing havoc of terrorism.
The above all points are imperative issues that must be resolved by the new government to make Pakistan a powerful and prosperous nation. For this purpose the new government has to tie the national and international relations to stabilize the pillars and the whole structure of the nation. The main issue is obviously energy crisis and the rest of the issues are to some extent interlinked with each other. The new government should not ignore any of the basic or major issue of the nation. If the issue is challenging then it may become a barrier for ever, if the issue is a minor one then it may become troublesome forever. So the new government needs to be vigilant in all spheres of life to bring prosperity in the nation. It should deliver clear and fair judgments in favor or against the individual who face the law. The new government has to work hard to make Pakistan a truly independent country.

However, the people seem impatient now to suffer more. They are demanding prosperity, peace, love, affection, brotherhood, freedom, all the basic needs, security, food, equal education and justice etc. it’s up to the government what they do in favor of the nation. The people have faced and will face all kinds of miseries because most of the people are God fearing in Pakistan. What the people can do is to vote their leaders after or before five years but what the elected government can do that can be guessed if they run on the past road. People are anxiously waiting for a positive change and solution for their problems and pathetic situations.
