Is Army Chief’s Statement In Favor Of Musharraf?
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Army Chief General Raheel
Sharif’s statement concerning the reputation of the institution yesterday is
being taken seriously by news channels and politicians. They gauge that the
statement was made in favor of Pervaiz Musharraf after he has been castigated by
Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Muhammad Asif. On the other hand, Saad Rafique
has rejected such opinions made by the news channels saying that the Army
Chief’s statement can be made on Musharraf’s lawyers.
Musharraf, a dictator who pushed Pakistan into flames has surely to be sentenced
for his crimes. It is very unfortunate that Pakistan’s circumstances started to
worsen fast in Musharraf’s regime and the situation is still critical. Thousands
of innocent people including men, women, children as well as our Pakistani
soldiers lost their lives in so-called war against terrorism which was started
after 9/11 by USA.
Talking about Musharraf’s crimes will be useless as everybody knows of them but
the question arises is it illegal to criticize a criminal who enforced emergency
in the country, who suspended esteemed judges of the apex court, who showed his
fists in Islamabad over the killing of innocent political workers on 12 May and
so on?
It is correct that he belonged to the Pakistan Army and the whole nation
definitely pays deep respect to the institution but he harmed or damaged not
only the reputation of Pakistan Army but his wrong decisions also resulted in
the killings of our innocent soldiers. Extremism and terrorism reached on peak
due to his wrong policies and various outlawed groups including Taliban emerged
which started to damage Pakistan and the killing of innocent people is still
going on.
In this era of anarchy, everyone has to show responsibility and try not to twist
the statements made by any of the esteemed institutions against anyone because
Pakistan is already suffering from critical situation and it cannot face further
bad incidents! Avoid disputes and Save Pakistan!
