Negotiations Between TTP & The Federal Government
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
The ceasefire announced by the
outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) expired on Thursday night. The overall
condition of terrorism remained under control for 40 days as TTP announced
ceasefire owing to the negotiations between TTP and the government committee.
Very few terror incidents during the negotiations took place but Taliban did not
claim responsibilities of the incidents, even they condemned such incidents till
the end of the ceasefire duration.
Since the federal government decided to negotiate with TTP, the opposition
parties especially Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)
started criticizing the federal government that it was negotiating with
terrorists. Even, opposition leader Khursheed Shah called the federal interior
minister Chauhdry Nisar Ali Khan a “Psycho”. Yes! Surely Mr. Nisar is a Psycho
who took this brave decision to bring Taliban on table and ensured peace in the
country that has become a dream since Musharraf’s regime.
It is very unfortunate that those who governed for 5 years did not do anything
for the nation but only looted the country. Neither PPP did anything for the
people nor does it want PMLN to do. The nation can see the situation in Thar
where hundreds of children, men and women died due to starvation. PPP’s
negligence pushed Thar into famine-stricken area. Hunger and illness compelled
the residents of Thar to migrate.
However, the opposition leader should at least consider 40 days of peace in the
country that interior minister struggled to bring. It is said that “peep in your
color first” then why did he forget his party’s past before criticizing? The
nation gave his party mandate to bring peace to Pakistan but unfortunately,
nothing happened in that era.
Surely Chauhadry Nisar is doing his best for the country and we should
appreciate him for his efforts rather than criticism. The whole nation is fed up
with terrorism and needs peace. The economy of every country is associated with
peace and when the economy is stronger, people avail job opportunities and then
a good, moral society grows.
