Rimac Concept One – $1m (£611,000)
The Croatian economy looks all set to grow by $88 million, because local
company Rimac Automobili is planning to make 88 examples of its Concept
One supercar at a million dollars a pop. And get this – the car is
entirely battery-powered, making it by far the world’s most expensive
electric vehicle. How many other cars have zero tailpipe emissions, four
seats and the ability to cover the 0-100kmh sprint in 2.8 seconds? |

Galpin GTR1 – $1.02m (£626,000)
Galpin Auto Sports- You’ve probably never heard of Los Angeles-based
Galpin Auto Sports, but its new GTR1 has just joined an elite of
million-dollar supercars, costing fully $1,024,000. For that you get a
carbon-fibre body and a Ford GT-based chassis complete with a
twin-turbocharged V8 engine that helps the car hit 362km/h. |

Porsche 918 Spyder – $1.06m (£648,000)
Porsche- Porsche’s spectacular new 918 Spyder sees the German brand move
into oligarch territory, with a price hovering around the million-dollar
mark. If you live in Europe, you’ll pay $1.06 million (£648,000)
excluding taxes, but the car is actually slightly cheaper if you buy it
in the US, where the starting point is a ‘mere’ $845,000 (£516,000). Go
for the weight-saving Weissach Package, though, and the price jumps by
another $84,000 (£51,000). |

Youabian Puma – $1.1m (£672,000)
The results of plastic surgery can be disastrous, and few people could
deny that this car – designed by a Californian cosmetic surgeon – is in
dire need of a facelift itself. Plastic surgery isn’t cheap, either, and
if you want a Youabian Puma, you’ll have to stump up a cool $1.1
million. It’s a giant of a car at nearly 8 feet wide and 20 feet long,
and is powered by a 7.0-litre V8 with over 500hp. |

Hennessey Venom GT Spyder – $1.1m (£672,000)
Hennessey- When Aerosmith's lead singer Steven Tyler took a test drive
in the 1,200bhp Hennessey Venom GT (price: $1 million), he said he’d
quite like one but only if they could chop the roof off. Hennessey duly
obliged, simultaneously upping the power to over 1,240hp to maintain the
car’s claimed top speed of 442km/h. Oh, and pushing the price up to
$1.1m (£672,000).

Pagani Huayra – $1.15m (£703,000)
Horacio Pagani’s follow-up model to the ultra-exclusive Zonda is the
more stylistically resolved but still-deadly Huayra. For your $1.15
million, you get a Mercedes-Benz twin-turbo V12 engine with 700bhp
wrapped in a fabulously finished body, and you’ll be able to reach
370km/h and do 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds. Hua-ray!

Zenvo ST1 – $1.15m (£703,000)
Zenvo- Denmark’s most extreme car ever (not that this is necessarily a
proud boast) is the Zenvo ST1, a blistering supercar stuffed with a
1,250hp engine. As a result, it’s capable of 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds
and a top speed of 375km/h. Only 15 examples are up for grabs, each
priced at €850,000 (which is $1.15 million, or £706,000).

McLaren P1 – $1.18m (£721,000)
McLaren- The hybrid supercar is very much the ‘it’ car format of 2013.
The McLaren P1’s V8 petrol engine joins an electric motor to make a
total output of over 900hp, good enough for 349km/h and 0-100km/h in
under three seconds. All 375 examples that will be built now have names
against them. And apparently most buyers add plenty of options, pushing
the average sale price of a P1 up to well over £1 million

SSC Tuatara – $1.3m (£794,000)
SSC- SSC (the new name for Shelby Super Cars) has announced prices for
the 2014 Tuatara supercar: it will cost from $1.3 million (or nearly
£800,000). What justifies such an elevated price tag? Well, the Tuatara
should slot in as one of the world’s quickest cars, thanks to a
twin-turbo 6.9-litre V8 engine that develops 1,350hp. |

Dagger GT – $1.5m (£917,000)
TranStar Racing- The Dagger GT may not actually exist in the metal yet,
but creator TranStar Racing has already announced a price tag for it –
almost a million quid. Billed as “the world’s fastest supercar” it’s
destined to have a 2,500hp engine, enabling a top speed of 480km/h-plus
and 0-100km/h in under 1.5 seconds. Gulp.
