Political Crises in Pakistan

(Rabia Waqar, Karachi)

Pakistan is a country of 180 million people and it has witnessed three coups in its 67 years of history. For many years, we have been hearing that the country is going through a critical scenario. The important question is who has made this critical situation of the country? Obviously, the leaders who hold power have created chaos on various occasions. Similar anarchic situation has been created in Islamabad these days. The current demonstrations initiated by Pakistan Awami Tahreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tahreek Insaf (PTI) that are going on in the Capital of Pakistan have been prolonged to infinite deadlines. The Sharif-led government has accepted all of the demands other than the resignation. But both of the leaders of PTI, Mr Imran Khan and PAT, Mr.Tahir ul Qadri are stubborn on a single demand, which is resignation of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Right now army has also been involved in it but for the time being they are passive. Who knows that history will repeat itself and army will capture power from democratically elected government which is obviously not in the favor of both of these leaders.

The big issue that is creating tension among the nation and other politicians is the safety of our national assets. The activists of both of the parties are behaving insanely without thinking that these national buildings in red zone are our real assets.

This political crisis that is going on in the country is creating a big loss to the economic state of Pakistan. According to Dr. Mifta Ismail, Chairman of Board of Investment, the economy of Pakistan has faced a great loss of Rs 700 billion. This is because no foreigners are coming to Pakistan since these demonstrations have been started. The hotel industry has also faced huge loss. Above all, the Presidents of Maldives and Srilanka have postponed their visit to Pakistan which is obviously a negative point for Pakistan's reputation in the international world. Also the ceiling of Lahore and Islamabad had halted all the economic activities and tourism industry.

It is a disappearance of a sense of responsibility that is shown by both of the leaders.

Every sensible citizen of Pakistan is convinced that the political situation created by PAT and PTI is heading towards wrong direction.

This political dogma should end up and leaders of the both parties should show some maturity and patience and wait for next elections which is the most decent and justified posture for the political parties.
