General Kapoor's Wishful Thinking

Yet not from the Bollywood’s kapoor family the outgoing Indian army chief, General Kapoor has succeeded in grabbing masses attention through his statements. He knows how to remain in media and news. He keeps on giving statements which not only gave him fame but depicts his wisdom, professionalism and the thought process he is passing through these days. He has gained a many of his fans all over the world. He seems unlike generals and is unique kind of its lot who analyses the military issues in political manner. Year of 2010 seems bringing bouquet of embarrassments for him as his conflicts on the issues of land unearthed and that too with his junior General VK Singh . General Kapoor tried hard to get some support from the corps commanders in order to put pressure on the Singh , but Singh remains the “King” as Indian government has nominated him the next army chief. It means post retirement relations of General Kapoor with its own army may not exist at respected level. Although Kapoor tried to be so over clever by appointing a junior general as vice chief of army staff butt still general Singh being the senior most has been picked up for the army chief lot , so new Indian army chief is expected to remain in lime light as for as the land scam is concerned.

Another feather decorated in General Kapoor’s cap was disclosure of the fact that he listens loud. It depicts the secrecy of high pitched of Kapoor as the person who listens loud speaks loud as well. That’s why general Kapoor when so ever spoke regarding general sing he speaks “volumes”. There is a perception regarding American presence behind every conspiracy but it’s a reality that general Kapoor deafness is because of America. Report narrates that he lost listening capability from one ear. However besides getting medical benefits on retirement he has the benefit of turning deaf ear to his wife Kirti Kapoor who could go stingier after Kapoor’s retirement. An electronic media report narrated the story on Jan 19 “Indian Army Chief Deepak Kapoor can be the first army chief in the world to retire on the basis of medical reason. He is suffering from hearing impairment after exposure to heavy booming sound of artillery guns during a demonstration on anti-terror operation in the US in July last year. As a result, the army chief has been placed in a lower medical category just four months before retirement. A lower medical category indicates partial disability and entitlement to higher pensions. The doctor’s certificate, issued on November 23 last year, says during the army chief’s visit to the US in July 2009, “he was closely exposed to loud noise in the form of small weapons firing and gun firing during a counter-terrorism demo by US soldiers. Since then he has developed acute deafness in the left ear. He was unable to discriminate between spoken words.”

So terrorism has not only brought sufferings for the people of Pakistan and the Afghanistan only but has effected the military leadership of India as Kapoor couldn’t absorb the shock of gun firing during counter terrorism demonstration.” Kapoor was commissioned into the regiment of artillery on June 1967. He must have done Gunnery course but it is just coincidence that being a gunner officer he couldn’t sustained the pressure of the guns thundering.

Indian defense ministry should have ordered for his complete medical test including the brain tests in order to diagnose the reasons of his illogic statements like Indian army can occupy china and Pakistan both simultaneously and that too in 96 hours only. General kapoor must be young cadet when Indian army made resolve to have tea break at 11 am in Lahore gymkhana on September Six, 1965 but it even failed to cross the BRB canal. However it seems General Kapoor had tried hard to get extension by giving fantasy based statements but not only failed to get his vested desire done but also failed to bring his favorite general as his successor. General Vijay Kumar Singh whom he hated like any thing would be soon replacing him. Masses of the region may expect some sober sort of statements and behavior from his successor which Kapoor couldn’t give out of simplicity and later on because of his disability of impaired hearing.

General Kapoor not only gave threats to china and Pakistan and talking of limited war in the region but stunned the world by giving a statement that eighty percent of Indian tanks cant fight during night. He declared Chinese army’s capability as 100 percent and Pakistan Army tank capability during night as 80 percent and Indian capability as 20 percent only. One is amazed with 80 percent disability of Indian army tanks of not fighting during night and one hundred percent disability of hearing at the part of Indian army chief, under what circumstances and strategy General Kapoor thought it appropriate to overcome Pakistan and China in 96 hours. It seems Kapoor was fond of changing his strategies on hourly basis rather ‘first come first basis’. He never gave second thought to the things, which so ever thought is earlier he finalizes that. He believes he is well thought and well learned persons. Instead to be the men of letters he always tries to be the man of statements.

Some “intelligentsia” declares that Kapoor is not that simple a soul to give such illogic and hilarious statements but has successfully tried to convey his Indian mindset and the thought process through which India is going through these days. It is rather a wishful thinking at part of Indian government and the Hindu fundamentalist who have yet not accepted Pakistan as a sovereign state and wants to dismantle the same into pieces. Indian resolve to create peace in the region is refrained to the statements only. India would never ever like to have good relations with Pakistan .Recently India has shown its frame of mind by ousting Pakistani cricketers from the IPL. India always sees Pakistan and the Pakistani masses as its enemy. So Pakistan should remain firm and dignified while inter-acting a country like India which never spares a chance to vilify Pakistan.
