others, it’s the disastrous aircraft accidents that have stunned the
world. This article highlights the significant aircraft accidents of
2016 that left behind nothing but memories of deceased.

LAMIA Bolivia Flight 2933 Crash
On 28th November 2016, Flight 2933 of Lamia Bolivia crashed near La
Union, Colombia. The flight was carrying the members of Brazilian
Chapecoense soccer team who were among the killed. According to the
sources, the plane ran out of fuel and had some electrical failure that
resulted in this tragic accident. 71 out of 77 passengers were killed in
this plane crash. |

M28 Skytruck Crash
On 3rd December 2016, Indonesian Police aircraft M28 Skytruck crashed in
the waters off Kabupaten Lingga, Riau Islands during a 1.5 hour
scheduled flight. The flight was enroute Pangkal Pinang - Batam Island
and 13 passengers lost their lives in this tragic accident. |

ATR-42-500 Crash
On 7th December 2016, Pakistan International Airline Flight 661 enroute
Chitral – Islamabad crashed into the mountains near Havelian, Abbotabad.
All 48 passengers including 6 crew members lost their lives. Renowned
Islamic scholar Junaid Jamshed and DC Chitral Osama Ahmed Warraich were
among the deceased. |

Lockheed C-130H Hercules Crash
On December 18th 2016, the military plane crashed into mountainous
terrain in an Eastern section of the country while attempting to land at
Warmera near Wamena, Papura, Indonesia. The flight was enroute Timika –
Warmera and this tragic accident took lives of all 13 people on board. |

Boeing 727-2JOF Crash
On December 20th 2016, after taking off on runway 24, the cargo jet
failed to lift off properly, just cleared the perimeter fence, became
airborne, turned to the right, lost altitude and crashed in an open
field at Puerto Carreno, Colombia killing all 5 people on board.

Russian Tupolev 154B-2 Crash
On December 25th 2016 Tupolev 154B-2 of Russian Air Force carrying 64
members of Alexandrov Emsemble choir including its director Valery
Khalilov, reporters and service men crashed into the waters of the Black
Sea about a mile offshore. The aircraft was enroute Chkalovsky AB -Ader
- Latakia, Syria and all 92 passengers on board were killed.
