Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan retires

Dhawan, announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on an Instagram post through his Instagram handle @shikhardofficial.

During his illustrious career, Dhawan amassed an impressive tally of 24 international centuries, including 17 in ODIs and 7 in Tests, across 269 matches.

He leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having joined an elite group of players who have scored over 5,000 runs in ODIs with a 40-plus average and 90-plus strike rate.

In addition to his international exploits, Dhawan also had a successful domestic career, playing a pivotal role in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy victory and being the top run-scorer for India at the Under-19 World Cup.

The news of Dhawan’s retirement has been met with tributes and appreciation from his former teammates, coaches, and the cricketing fraternity as a whole. His impact on the game and his contribution to Indian cricket will be long-lasting.
