ICC World Cup: Warne's old prediction about Travis Head goes viral

The 29-year-old won the player of the match as Australia chased 241 with six wickets remaining to win an unprecedented sixth World Cup title. Head was the top-scorer for Australia in the semifinal as well as he made 62 off just 48 balls against South Africa.

The talent of the left-handed opening batsman, who made his debut for Australia in 2016, was also recognised by the legendary Shane Warne.

Considered to be one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket, Warne died of a heart attack in 2022 at the age of 52. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he predicted Travis Head as one of the “future stars for Australia”.

In a tweet on December 6, 2016, Warne wrote, “I’m a big fan of Travis Head as a cricketer, I believe he will be a future star for Australia in all forms of the game.”
