Pacer Sohail Khan announces retirement from International cricket

The 39-year-old Sohail Khan announced his decision through a post on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

“After a thorough consultation with my close ones, I’ve decided to retire from International & First Class Cricket. Big thank you to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans, and everyone who supported me. I would continue playing domestic white ball & franchise,” the post says.

Sohail Khan made his international debut during an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2008, followed by a T20I debut against Canada later in the same year, while his test debut came a year later during the 2009 home test series against Sri Lanka.

He represented Pakistan in nine Tests, 13 ODIs and five T20Is. The right-arm pacer picked up 51 wickets over the course of his international career.

He also represented Pakistan in the 2015 ODI World Cup, where he picked up 12 wickets, including a 5-wicket haul against arch-rivals India.

Meanwhile, he also picked up 39 wickets during his Pakistan Super League (PSL) career, playing for five different teams.
