Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a new Meal Program set to launch next month in government schools across Punjab. Initially, this program will be rolled out in three districts of South Punjab: DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur. In this first phase, students in these areas will receive free milk and meals to meet their nutritional needs.
This initiative responds to concerns about the health and development of children in these districts, who have been reported as mentally and physically underdeveloped. The goal of the program is to enhance their overall health and well-being. After this initial rollout, the program will be expanded to more districts across the province.
Minister Hayat also noted that a reputable company will soon be chosen to manage and implement the milk program, ensuring its smooth operation and effectiveness.
This Meal Program underscores the government’s commitment to improving both education and health for students in Punjab’s government schools. By providing essential nutrition, the program aims to boost students' performance and well-being in the long term.
