Kafoor - Camphor

Camphor (Kafoor) is a white colored (sometimes transparent) solid material with a powerful aromatic odor. It is also waxy and flammable. Chemically, it is a terpenoid. It is taken from the wood of Camphor Laurel tree from some Asian countries (Indonesia and Sumatra). Moreover, it is also taken from kapur tree from same countries.

It is used to keep things from getting smelly. In Pakistan, it is used with bed quilts and blankets to keep them odor-free. In India, it is used as a cooking ingredient for its scent. It also has medicinal and religious uses in some countries. For beauty, it is used for skin and hair care. It is also used in funerals in Muslim communities.
