Gender, Security and Peace

The Individuals’ security (particular women) compromises when the prior focus of state is towards some other activities. Inpatriarchal societies, security protection, health facilities, economic benefits and political privileges are in favor of male population. In masculine-centered societies, women face intense security issues at micro, meso and macro level, because of having no infrastructure to provide them physical and social security. In societies like Ethiopia, where the women do not have their basic rights, infect they feel intense difficulties to fulfill their survival needs in such a divers and high ethnic population. In every down fall, that happensin any society cause more hardships for women populationas compare to males. In war situations women face various hardships; they lost their husbands and sons (breadwinners) that are hard to accept for them, and due to have no land ownership, women lose their economic support and spent helpless lives. In past, women in patriarchal system, raised their voice to challenge such kind of man ruling structure, but cannot succeed to change the fixed pattern of women oppression. My point is that, their struggle cannot reach to positive consequences until their strong participatory role in decision making procedures and political involvement. To challenge the historical thinking’s in any society, the existing phenomenon should modify according to the present scenario and social patterns on the ground base realities.

We cannot expect an unbiased decisions in such societies where the power is in the hand of one particular side, in such case the opposite side is just live on the courtesy of hope to get justice from the ruling class. One point is important to discuss in such scenario, that we talk about the historical perspective, males always exist at the privilege side, and we study the pre-historic era that also depicts the hegemonic condition of men that use illegitimate ways to restrict women in almost all the prospect of domestic, social and national activities. The participation of women in various fields do not encourage by the pro-agenda factors of dominant class. In historical paradigm, women play vital roles in multiple fields, they fought in wars, work in hard conditions, write literatures, but there is no visibility of women in the historical context. Actually we label our women to the restricted assumptions, and set the tone in their minds that, they can only perform those acts that were declared by the male dominant society. Without demolishing such labels, women do not get equal status in terms of psychological and material basis.

Health based issues are consider as one of the most prior indication of social protection in any society. The current situation regarding health dynamics are not up to the mark that depicts the lack of mutual collaboration among the different determinants of the society. The health of an individual and community plays a crucial role in all the aspects of human life like, child raising, self occupation, freedom of choise etc. The healthsituation of any individual portrays the facilities that any person is availing in his/her life. Health is not just a biologicalcharacterized term, it also has social, environmental and structural conceptualization that define health as wider concept to deal with. Good health refers to the availability of social protection on the psychological, social and physical attributes.According to WHO, in-equalities are killing the people at larg scale on the basis of different categories like class, religion, gender etc. Discrimination among the class, religion, gender and cast are one of the main hurdles in the way to provide equal health faculties allacross the globe. There are certain policies implemented in different parts of the world to ensure health facilities in some societies, but we cannot bring any change without considering ground reality needs and evaluation. We have to involve all the participation of sub-groups in policy planning criteria to those implementations to provide provide health facilities to our citizens.
