The resentment gripped the
country on 3rd of April, 2009 after the unearthing of a Video clip showing the
flogging in public of a 17 Year old women in Swat valley by Taliban.
Eventually the Prime Minister of Pakistan, President of Pakistan and Chief
Justice of Pakistan had no other option but forced to comprehend the situation
and ordered in the respective manner.
Condemning the incident, it was a shocking and shameful happening which not only
tarnished the image of the country but also our religion.
The whole episode was against the principles and teachings of Islam “Islam
teaches us to treat women politely”
Members of Civil Society and Public Representatives at large reacted strongly to
the incident and expressed fears and reservations that such practices might
spread to the rest of the country.
The video, apparently shot on a mobile phone, shows the girl, wearing a blue
burqa, lying on the ground face down. Her legs, hands and head are held by two
men and a third, bearded man wearing a turban is shown whipping her repeatedly.
It seems like a pathetic goat just before sacrifice.
After the first couple of lashes, the girl starts to scream loudly, but no one
moves to help her. All the audience was busy watching a favorite show live.
The clip of the video shown by several news channels sent a wave of distress,
shock, anger and depression across the country.
Some elements are still trying to downplay the significance of the flogging,
saying it was not clear if it was a recent incident and even going to the
dreadful extent of speculating that the incident had not taken place.
A leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), without mincing his words, has been
seen saying the video release was aimed to undermining the Swat peace agreement.
One participant of your peace agreement is claiming it is in true ambit of Islam
and they (Taliban) will have to practice these in future (regardless the peace
agreement is a success of a failure) and the other participant (ANP Government)
is trying to save their legs from the dirty water by claiming that though it is
un-Islamic but it is to sabotage the agreement, what sort of malice agreement it
is actually.
Swat Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan told some news TV channels that it was the
work of Taliban. He termed the action justified, saying that the girl had been
seen out of her house with a man who was not her husband and it was enough to
punish her for what he said was an un-Islamic’ act.
NWFP minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Tehrik-e-Taliban Swat spokesman Muslim
Khan, both claiming in the valley that the incident had taken place before the
February 16 peace agreement, local people said it had taken place around two
weeks ago at Kala Kalae, Kabal sub-district.
Both said the surfacing of the video clip was a conspiracy to sabotage the deal.
For the God sake, suppose if such thing has happened before some time, so what
is the guarantee that even if the agreement becomes a success and both the
participant (Government and Taliban) reach on a conclusion to maintain the peace
deal, than do you still think that the Taliban mind set will change just because
of your unvalued sort of agreement with the government and do you believe they
(Taliban) will not consider themselves “KHUDAEE FOJDAAR” whenever such events
take place, they will never honor any agreement (any action which is against
version and interpretation of Islam). They are trying to shelter from the
bombardment and on the same to impose Sharia as they think right.
One has to condemn the act of brutality and cruelty; the debate can go on that
how to deal with such acts. But the mind set has to be changed. We should follow
the Quran and Sunna not sorts of Sharia these mindless and extremist mind set
sorts of people (often called as Jahil Mulla).
I do quote a Quranic Ayah which clearly says in Sura Baqra (Chapter 2, Ayah No.
256) (English Translation)
“
THERE SHALL BE NO COMPULSION IN THE RELIGION. THE RIGHT COURSE HAS BECOME CLEAR
FROM ERROR. SO WHOEVER DIS-BELIEVES IN TAUGHT AND BELIEVES IN ALLAH HAS GRASPED
THE MOST TRUSTWORTHY HAND LOCK WITH NO BREAK IN IT. AND ALLAH HEARS AND KNOWS”.
I do not know how the hell on the earth such extremist have all the rights to
impose sharia by hook or by crook. Everybody has the right to convince the
others, but by force it is not a blessing at all, specially if any state has its
judicial and administrative system in place ((no matter how lump and floppy the
one it)
In the eyes of some, this matter can be small in nature, and those can say that
there are other issues much more intensive that that but still one has to feel
the pain and try to do his/her level best to protest against each and every
single thing which threatens (by our honest level of belief and faith) the true
teaching of Quran and Suna..I hope this will be taken in good spirit and meaning
from all our brothers and sisters.
