Yesterday I was arranging my
books in my room, when I found my old diary in which I found the minutes of my
meeting with Mian Tufail Mohammad, Ex-Amir Jamat Islami Pakistan. I have the
honor to live for some days in the vicinity of Mian Tufail Mohammad, the
founding member of JI Pakistan. During the summer vacations of 2006, I was
participating in a research course in Idara Maarif Islami (Research Academy)
Mansoora Lahore, where the course in charge, prof. Zafar Hijazi arranged a
meeting of the course participants with Mian Sahib.
In my dairy I have recorded this great event as such:- ‘Ex-Amir Jamat Islami
Pakistan, Mian Tufail Mohammad agreed to have a meeting with the participants of
the 2nd Research Course of Idara Maarif Islami Lahore on 13 of June, 2006 at
10.30 am. We spend our time from 8.00 to 10.30 am in the Academy, and exactly at
10.30 am we set out for Main Sahib house in the company of Zafar Hijazi, Dr
Rafiuddin Hashmi and Chaudry Ahmad Mukhtar to meet Mian Sahib at his residence
in Mansoora.
Mian Sahib was waiting in his room, and despite of old age and physical
weakness, he stood up and embraced each one of us. Zafar Hijazi introduced all
the course participants to Mian Sahib. We all set down before Mian Sahib in a
circle on the ground while he was setting in a chair.
Mian Sahib recalled the old history of his life, how he joined Jamat Islami, and
related all the major events happened during the initial stage of this movement.
He also recalled his meetings with Maulan Maududi (Rahmatullah Alaihi). We were
very much impressed by his strong memory at such an old age of about 93 years.
All the events were just fresh in his memory as if happened yesterday. Some time
he related the minute detail of some of the events.
When Mian Sahib joined Jamat Islami he quitted the profession of a lawyer. He
also related why he quitted the profession of advocacy, and how he managed to
keep the hearth of home burning. We remain in the company of Mian Sahib for
about half an hour and came back to the academy’.
